O.K. gotta ask -- is Montana the next Texas --- just let me know so that I can make preparations for my next move ( I have lived in OR my whole life) -- but looks like a move is in my future ----- please let me know so that I only have to move once.

I don't think it'll be as rapid of a liberal migration because our winters will help drive a lot out. South dakota is where I'd go for a conservative stronghold. Missoula and Bozeman are full of bunny hugging anti trappers because they're big cities with our state universities.

I think ID amd WY have best trapping regs. I could b wrong though. WY is rated #1 state to retire to though. Lowest taxes.

Oh no.....another Missoula bashing thread!

Sharon, you're right....MT is making some good progress for trappers. At least you seem to be headed in the right direction.

If you don’t like your state I’d stay away from Bozeman or Missoula. Pretty much the only counties that went blue the last election if that tells you something.

So if you want to be kind of "out of it " why compromise just move to to North Dakota .

Montana State Legislature makeup
Senate: 31 Republicans, 19 Democrats. House: 67 Republicans, 33 Democrats.

Wyoming State Legislature makeup
Senate: 28 Republicans, 2 Democrats. House: 51 Republicans, 7 Democrats and 2 Other.

South Dakota State Legislature makeup
Senate: 32 Republicans, 3 Democrats. House: 62 Republicans, 8 Democrats.

Going by the above, politically, Wyoming and South Dakota are more Conservative. Plus, Montana has Democrat Senator Jon Tester in which I can’t figure out how he got re-elected.

Nurses would be in line with the rest of the state. Probebly start high 20/hr up to 35 an hour for standard nursing at hospital.

Yes --- us left coasties just dream about montana/ wyoming -- etc. We do not want to hear anything bad about the states that are so much better (in every way except weather) than us. I don't like heat and humidity or I would have to add Texas to the list.

Really it depends on what type of life you are looking for. There are many and I mean many good places in Montana. What are some things on your wish list ?

I'm retired and will go back to work when the Gubmint says I can at 66 yrs 5 months. My lady is an RN in Florida but would be taking a yuge pay cut by going to MT by the looks of things. We both hate people so just looking to get to mountains but so does everybody else. Wyoming would be perfect for me but not for her because of family location.
