I have some older stuff it separates into a clear oil and a cream colored grease over time. FYI

All stored sac oil will separate over time if not agitated. An animal is always moving as are its glands so they will never get a chance to separate.

Separation doesn't diminish the quality just a matter of different material weights that are combined. Not much different then a lure bottle sitting on a shelf for a while.

It seems most oils separate over long periods of time I have a old bottle of mink oil I got 40 years ago that separated, years back we found a cod liver oil bottle at a old deer camp site and that had fat on the bottom of the unopened bottle.

Just a simple fact of basic chemistry. Weights, measures and densities of various components of a liquid nature will all be revealed in a gravity environment over time. Some varying weight components will at times begin separating quickly in front of you after agitation. Oil bases and water soluble elements mixed together will separate rather quickly in many cases if something is not added to mitigate this natural occurrence. A good education non the less.

Skunk mustard settles almost instantly once transferred into a clear container. Big density/weight difference from the mustard and the liquid essence volume.

Who has tried to pour an equal distribution of essence with equal amounts of mustard into smaller containers? smile If you have a secret please share.......

My trap shed helps separate my skunk and badger oils if the temps drop the clear oils will fog up as the grease starts to form then that will settle on the bottom like some fish oils will. It seems never ending trying to get a oil with no grease in it filtering it does nothing to hold the grease back the next year the clear oil fogs up again. I’ll need to pour off some oils this week don’t get me wrong I’ll take that grease any day it makes a great paste type base.
