I’ve seen hundreds of these dug in sand and dirt. These are the first two I’ve seen dug in stone.

I would put a camera on it . how big is the hole looks like a couple of inches

I think I will get a camera on them. The holes are about the size of a regular groundhog or otter.

are they along side a road or rail ?

we see digging like that along road and rail where they dig out the gravel or sand gravel mix
