If you click on Borough Furnace in the link you posted it takes you to their site. A 5.5 qt Dutch oven is $240. A Lodge Dutch oven is $34-84 depending on what you get. Lodge is made in the US also. I don't care for the design of the Borough Furnace Dutch over. I like legs and a flat lid with a rim to hold coals. The Fry pans are way expensive too.

I like my lodge have a wall of it and then some in the kitchen

South Pittsburg Tenn been to the plant I like the seconds room prices , I can hardly tell the blemish on some.

I have dutch ovens with smooth bottoms and feet it si for if your camp fire cooking to kitchen cooking

I have made pies and cakes and all sorts of stuff in dutch ovens.

I use my 2 Woks a lot , I have a medium and a Large

pizza pans

many skillets of different sizes from little novelty size to 17 inches

I am sure the more custom cast iron is very nice , just a bit rich for my wallet .

I do have a couple pieces of French cast Iron , a LeCruset enameled Dutch oven and it is very nice for a soup or sauce , we got a deal on it caught a sale and I still think it was 200 , and I have a muffin pan I picked up at a thrift store it is just like my grandmothers for a few dollars.

I don't care for Lodge and newer cast iron. It doesn't compare to the old stuff.

I wonder if tap dancers walk into a room, look at the floor, and think, I'd tap that. I wonder about things.....

I have lodge and I have some old wagner the lodge comes much rougher in texture , but I don't see that as the negative I once did , with some good seasoning the lodge cooking surface can be very very smooth

if I can do 3 eggs sunny side up it has to be smooth and I do it all the time

one of my favorite egg pans for omelets and eggs sunny side up is the lodge carbon steel. it heats up fast

they seem to sell for more than I recall paying but another good pan that will last several life times

a pat of butter and just when the butter starts to sizzle I add my eggs keep that heat fairly low and they cook up over 2-3 minutes and I can slide them right out onto my toast

Agree with previous posts. Better off going with the antique cast iron than purchasing the new stuff.

I got a 8 qt Lodge Dutch oven on sale for $29. The first thing I did is take the electric palm sander to the inside. It is as smooth as any Griswold now. Cast iron are the only fry pans we own. I have a good verity of sizes and depths and griddles. Some are Griswold, Wagner, Lodge, and off breed with no name on them. You can not tell the difference when using them. But I can't see paying $240 to say it was hand made.

I have a mix of cast iron including a big Griswold and a really big Erie fry pan.

My everyday users are an old, no-name set of four pans I found in a farm dump 30-40 years ago. I took them home, cleaned them up and have been using them ever since. They were rusty but not pitted and are old enough to have glassy smooth bottoms.

I also have a Lodge griddle that I’ve had for a long time. It’s not as nice as the old stuff but fries up my venison-apple sausage patties just fine.

I hope the Borough Furnace owners do well. Too spendy for me but somebody must be buying their stuff judging by the amount of items sold out.

those no names were quite often made by Lodge , if they have a tear drop handle and a segmented heat ring at 3,6,9

you can tell by the font also if they have any numbers or letters

Tear drop handles but solid heat rings on the dump finds.

Weird numbering system stamped on the back too. From smallest to largest:

1031 #3 (6")

1030 #5 (8")

1032 #7 (10")

1033 #8 (12")
