You might want to negotiate a little better deal. I would suggest adding the standard mileage rate * the miles to and from trap check. I have had a couple of beaver jobs that paid more in mileage than critters. Standard mileage rate for 2021=$0.56/mile

Why do some folks get upset with what others charge? Cause it makes them feel guilty for overcharging exorbitant fees, also scared it will undercut inflated priceing structures. Like all the so called "pro's" get miffed when fur trappers handle nuisance work on a goodwill basis for those who give them permission to use their land.

Before you boys think I'm getting short changed on this arrangement, this levy district has 14 miles of Missouri River front in a big horse shoe. They have 32 miles of levys. Don't know how many miles of barrow ditches. I live 1 half mile from one end of it. I believe they told me it protects around 25000 acres. They told me to drive anywhere I wanted to go in my side x side, and trap anything I wanted to trap. They told me to stay after the beaver though and they would pay 50 apiece for them. They also said I would be the only trapper in there and gave me a key to the gates. Being I can leave my driveway on my ranger and spend all day down there trapping if I want too, I ain't rocking the boat. They had a big problem last year with beaver until I caught 39 of them. That got them under control and this year I've only scratched 9 out so far. Got a few more left to go, but with the river right there they just keep reloading. Have caught quite a few coyotes, cats, otter, rats, and coons in there. Pretty darn convenient too and no competition or Johnny Sneekums.

During the fur heydays, I used to do some nuisance work for free. Well, not exactly free, but a guarantee that I would have exclusive rights to trap all the land for other critters besides beaver or whatever the nuisance animal was at time.
The difference between animals and humans is that animals would never let the dumbest ones lead the pack.

Yall dont know how things are everywhere. 50 bucks a beaver and i would start trapping them. Around here you can trap for people but when you start talking about charging you will find yourself not trapping much if any. Got a buddy that lives a few hours away and he has people begging him to come trap.

Trapping beaver for free is what got me my permission and access to trapping property. 50 bucks a head is great money. Just maybe not to the guy doing it for a living. Those prices are on the ADC forum.
