The state of MN is now requiring a MN driver's license and if you aren't in their system, your SS# too. You don't need any ID to vote and definitely don't need your SS#. But, to get a fishing license, you need these things which only proves that a fishing license is more important than your vote in an election.
The loon is the MN state bird. Now, all they need to do is add the wood tick as the state insect. Then we can call it what it is, "The Loon-A-Tick State."
We are told not to judge all Muslims by the actions of a few lunatics, but are told to judge all gunowners by the actions of a few.

Social security # has been needed for years,if you weren't in the system. Both husband and wife having to be present is a new goofy one. Tom

Can you buy your license online, and if so how's that gonna work? Sounds like your state is disenfranchising married folks.

This is WAY down on the list of complaints in my world (and with the MN DNR). As far as an ID to get a license, we can only hope that takes hold elsewhere in this dumb state.
I will venture to bet that this is done to prevent the crooks of the world.
I rode along with some Game Wardens here in MN some 25 years ago (Part of an intnership). Remarkable how many people think they are residents of more than one state.
When we get NR trapping here I'll head up my list to this topic...but its a LONG way up the list for me.

Plus no buying a husband and wife license unless both are present Wow I’m still trying to figure out what is wrong with that new rule? You can’t go in and buy a license for a friend so why does it change when you are married to them?

Its a bit different when its tour spouse--same address and same phone(usually). Also social security # should seal the deal. Wife and I have been married for 42 years. I always picked up our fishing licenses when I picked up my other licenses and have never taken her with. Tom

A better question is what was wrong with the old rule? What does the new rule accomplish except make things more complicated? The old rule worked fine for the 40 years I was buying combination fishing licenses. Now suddenly it doesn't?

The obvious answer and the situation which apparently no one has thought of is there must have been some non-rule following individuals out there taking advantage of the situation. Or they wanted license buying requirements to be the same no matter the license type. It hardly sounds as onerous as it has been made out to be. I know, change is hard. But you can do it, if you have to, I guess.

When you consider how easy it is to hack the government's computers, I don't want to just throw my SS# out there. Evidence shows China hacked into out presidential election. Husband & wife need to be present to get a sportsman license? Really? It may be down on your list of complaints and the DNRs, but the bait shop owner I spoke to said he's had a lot of complaints with these new rules. I can't help but think Governor Porky Pig had his hand in this stupidity.
