It doesn't matter to me what happens to my carcass after I die, so I guess cremation because it's cheaper.

I'm not much of a carpenter. I did some searching and found some custom jobs that weren't terribly expensive. I did some checking and I can be buried on my own land without being embalmed and no concrete vault is required. I have to register the site with the town and the site has to be marked but that's no big deal. I'd better do this quick before they change the law on me.

I'm sorry to hear that and I hope I didn't open a wound. My brother buried his daughter way too young and I saw what it did to him. I didn't mean to be insensitive.

Cheap and no cemetery, I hate crowds. I don't believe home burial is allowed in CT, so that leaves cremation. If my family spills my ashes at home, not like they can move them later. Maybe I'll chisel a rock with my name on it.

I repaired this one after some kids broke into it and scattered the remains about. [Linked Image]

My mom wished to be donated to a medical college. That is what I did. The medical school was so nice and respectful, and they arranged everything. I learned that the students are required to say a prayer each day at the beginning of their anatomy class. After a year, mom was cremated and I drove down to get her ashes. I had such a positive experience with the arrangement that my wife and I have considered it.

I realize this is not for everyone but it relieves the family of final arrangements and expenses. We spread her ashes at a mountain overlook. Her two grandkids read bible verses, and we poured a toast to a grand old lady who lived to be 100. It was her wish, made 40 years ago, and she never changed her mind.

Wife and I have related to our family we want cremation and they are good with that. Trying to figure out where I want the bulk of my ashes spread. I am looking into some spots. Also putting together a short memorial type service or agenda. Have been a church member now for 45 years but may choose a different option.

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

Cremation for me but just found out that ain’t cheap anymore. Brother-in-law just passed, he didn’t want a funeral, just cremation. $3600 to get his ashes in a cardboard box. Yikes 😱

No worries it was 15 years ago that 19 year old ran the red light and killed my 16month old. It took years but I'm mostly ok with it now and have a much different view of death. Infact I was talking with a fellow today. Everything I have is Gods I'm just a temporary custodian of it. Form the bank account to the kids. He decided it was time for my son to come home so he did.. ok maybe I'm not quite over it or even ok with it but I will see him again and no longer worry about dying. I actually look forward to it though I'm definitely in no hurry.

Don't worry about me being sensitive. But thinks for being compassionate and considerate. So many no longer think about others these days.

I want to be thrown off the Grand Canyon and left for the Ravens and Coyotes to eat. Since that is illegal and no one else seems to see the beauty in it I want to be tossed out at sea which is legal and should be inexpensive.

I let my family know that I want to be cremated and my ashes spread in the places I have been happiest: Turkey Creek Brake in Louisiana, the Fox River Flats at the head of Kachemak Bay in Alaska, and the Hat Creek Breaks here in Wyoming. My wife is good with that also, so whoever goes first will get boxed (urned?) up to wait for the other. Then our boys get to go on an adventure. We are setting aside some money to pay for the travel for them.

The way we see it, if someone wants to visit us after we are gone it might as well be a happy place, not a cemetery.

Ashes to ashes suits me just fine. I don't care much for the dust to dust route.
