Helping my son with a auto restoration. I am sandblasting parts that we will powder coat. We have a console unit that you put your hands into heavy gloves and watch through a window as you sandblast.

Problem is that my visibility is almost zero. Cleaning both sides of the window hardly helps. Can the problem be that the sand itself is worn out and very dusty. How often does the media need to be changed. The air inside seems very dusty to me.

Need advise.

Try waxing the window that’s what they do with race car windshields.

Does it have plastic over the glass? If so probably needs replacing.

Feel the media and see if it is too broken down causing the inside to be dusty while blasting. If the blaster had an exhaust to suck out the dust, I'm sure that would be nice. Just compare new media to what you are using and you should be able to tell when it needs changing.

Has an exhaust and large filter to catch dust. I can wax the window. Should I use a paste wax or what.

I was taught on thr exact machine in high-school. I recall we just let it settle then would go again sometimes you'd have to adjust where you look in

The plexi glass or glass window is likely scored and the blasting medium is likely worn and full of pulverized debris from the items cleaned. I would love to have a unit like that, but don't need one enough to justify buying and keeping one. I used one occasionally back in the early nineties.

You could sift out the overly fine sand blasting medium, but it's messy.

You'll quickly notice if you get a hole in the gloves. I did.

I recently saved a bunch of black walnut shell to use with an open sand blaster a friend of mine has.

we are doing a complete frame-off restoration of a 1972 Blazer. Special edition with a plaid interior, two batteries, and every option offered. California model shipped here from AZ. Had Utah plates. Hope to finish this summer. Some parts are crazy expensive. Not adding back the CA emission parts. I had been modified for propane use. Switching back to gasoline.

Son and his partner a finishing a 1970 short bed Chevy truck with 400 engine. Final body assembly, then up for sale.

Can be several things, old/contaminated media, no exhaust, too much media.
Change out the media and see if that helps. If it does have exhaust wash out the exhaust bag and any other parts that easily detach.
I use 10lb boxes of media at a time. I don't blast greasy parts so the media lasts awhile. I know when it gets real dusty for me, it's usually the media needs to be changed. Once the dust was real bad then I snapped the exhaust wasn't turned on lol.
