After burying my parents in the last 2 years there is no way that I would spend that amount of money to put my carcass in a hole. I got a prepaid cremation plan with instructions for my kids.

Funeral? I wonder why that word starts with fun?

Funerals are for family. I seriously doubt I will know the difference.

My preference is cheap, quiet, no fanfare, any way my family wants.

There are small towns and villages in Alaska where friends get together, build a coffin, dig the hole and bury their loved one.
Does this still happen anywhere in the lower 48?
Seems like a real reasonable way to do it.

In the words of Jim Morrison---come on baby--Light my fire.
Lefties should insist on cremation--how much more Green could they be?
I always thought that at a certain point,we would all turn to cremation over burial.Only so much room for cemeteries.

When my father was dying I asked what he wanted, He wanted burying in the family plot but as cheap as possible, lol, Cheap casket, no embalming, just get it over with.

When it's my turn I'll be cremated and have my ashes spread out on the bay, I took a lot out of it ,and in a small way figure I'd repay the favor... I'd just as soon they chuck me in and give the crabs something to chew on but the authorities seem to frown on that....

Just hope the kids get my own ashes back..... cool

Cremation. Too much money for a burial.

I want to be buried on top of Nancy P so she can kiss my ...!Joking aside I want to be cremated and spread my ashes over some of my trapping, hunting and fishing grounds. A good friend of mine has told me and his family and grand kids etc.where he wants his ashes over looking Portage bay high above on this cliff looking over some of his favorite fishing spots, small mouth bass and muskie spots. That's one of the best request I've been told about.

Will be pine box for me. We usually have volunteers or family members that will build and prepare for the funeral. I have been helping with building crosses or box covers. Was heart breaking this past summer making a cross and box for a little boy. Sometimes it is hard to get volunteers and only a few people help.

I told the wife to throw me on a brush pile and let nature take over. Told the son to collect all the yote scat so I can continue to help him catch coyotes... Cameron was ok with that, the wife was not... I'll be buried up the road. I mowed that cemetery for a couple years when I was in high school. So it will be my turn to make the ground uneven and crowded for the next person to mow and be a pain in thier butt.

Cremation here and I told my wife just scatter my ashes wherever, I didn't care. She reminded me that it wasn't all about me, that my kids and grandkids might want a place to "visit" me.
I get it now. So we agreed on cremation and dig a hole on our property, add ashes and plant a tree so they can have a place to talk if they needed.

My wife already talked to her taxidermist about about a full body. I will be seen around the house and that will help keep her safe.
Then if she is traveling she can run in the carpool lane.

For those that want buried so folks can "visit" them, Your immediate family might show up occasionally, but it usually becomes less and less frequent, out of sight out of mind. Not trying to change anyone's mind, just a fact of life.
