My neighbor has a few they do let me know when anything is going on around here.

I'll plead complete ignorance. I see some people with a few in their yards around here but no real flocks. What are they good for? Meat, eggs, feathers, dog training? I never see any signs of eggs or meat for sale like the chicken raisers. Please educate me.

That's an understatement. An owl starts on them, they will clean out your whole flock. Best to train them to go in a house at night, or you won't have them long!

Glad someone like them. Had them when I was a kid. Things never shut up.

Try turkey hunting a property next to a flock of those things. Calling seemed totally pointless as it was drowned out by their never ending cackles.

My son had some and his buddy told him they needed oiled, from the way they sound, lol. Everyone I know around here that has had them just had their numbers slowly dwindle away. Had one fly around the barn straight into a pipe corner post and kill himself graveyard dead. If the critters don't get them eventually they off their selves!

My dadinlaw taught them young to roost in a chicken coop (quieter at night)

We had 8 of them... ONCE! Noisiest things ever...well, next to the wife!
