Nice.

Eh...wot?

Thanks Scuba , I’ve got an Alaskan style chain saw mill but it’s a lot of work for an old man and wastes a lot of wood .

I hear ya. It gets old quick when pushing a 36 inch bar through a 16 foot long oak log. Its ok for little projects like a slab for a table and such when messing around with hard wood. But if you want to cut dimensional lumber for a barn or cabin its just not going to cut it ( pun intended )

Let's go Brandon

Oak would be nice , lol I’ve been cutting ash . From what I understand it’s about 50 percent harder than oak. I’ve got about 15 acres of dead standing ash that I just don’t want to see go to waste .

Norwood is the popular saw around here. i know of half a dozen people that have them. i don't personally have one but have spend a fair bit of time on the father in laws Norwood .Only problem he had was the engine kept blowing up. He went to norwood and they admitted they put to small of an engine on and gave him a bigger one as a update.
its works good , really easy to get parts for.
another saw that is a budget saw in this area is the valley saw mills little blue. Haven't seen them work but have heard they're good on small stuff. Woodmizer seems to be the pro saw.

Golf ball,

Inexpensive relative to similar saws from well-known brands (but still a significant investment, for me anyway). When I was shopping around, there were a few less expensive saws, but their quality seemed to be lacking. I bought mine several years ago and payed ca. $4500 for the mill, trailer package, and a 5' extension. I'm sure prices are slightly higher now, but they are still being made. www.ezboardwalk.com.

With a little blood, sweat, and tears, my saw can cut a 30" log. Something closer to 24" makes life a lot easier. Without an extension, maximum log length is about 12'. Here are a few pictures of a big bur oak I cut a few years ago. It was about as big as I can handle.
