If you want to learn a lot on smoking there is a Trager site on face book and there are MANY good cooks on there. There is so much you can do with a smoker. My advice is to start with something easy & cheap and work your way up from there. You may have a hard time cooking the whole pig on there at once.

I'm Facebook free. Also. I'll cook it one part at a time so I can fit it inside. LOL.

I understand the face book thing. I never was involved and hated it. I joined because I was looking for some better quality eggs and vegs. during the pandemic .I did judge competition bbq for a few years until I figured out all I was doing was spending my money to the benefit of cooks so they could open up their own restaurant or promote the one they owned. Unless you know how to cook with a smoker or have some back ground its not the easiest thing to do in my opinion. I was unsure cause you mentioned that you got a whole pig and was thinkin you were gonna just throw it on there and see how it goes. grin

What ya going to due with the pig head? Its a matter of practice and you can tweak it as you go .Also depends on your tastes. I have seen people who liked this or that and I could see from the pictures because of my experience that it would be nothing I would eat.

When we roast a whole pig here,,first thing I do is hatchet open the skull and scoop out the brains and use them for smoked dip with crackers and extra sharp cheese.

Gotta say, I've done a few whole pigs in my time every which way. Decided to give way a try. It's the only way I'll do a whole pig again! :-)
