Let them fly! I have done as you describe, and I am still okay from it, and the pistol is as well.

just of the top of my head these are the approximate max PSI of each case if your reloading follow published load data
but this will give you an idea of why it is fine to shoot 38+p in a 357
38spl 19Kpsi max
38+P 21Kpsi max
357mag 35 or 37K psi max
America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

I was thinking the same Pete. A .38+P wouldn't come close to the chamber pressure of a .357 mag.
Eh...wot?

I was thinking the same Pete. A .38+P wouldn't come close to the chamber pressure of a .357 mag. yup in Hogdon load data the hottest max load for 38+p is 18,600psi 125gr bullet in 38spl data 17,000psi was the hottest max load looking deeper 17,500psi is the sammi max here is a comparison chart I found

That was about shooting a .38 S & W out of a .38 Special or .357 mag. You can’t do it. The diameter of a 38 S & W is larger than a 38 special or 357 mag.
Eh...wot?

What model Dan Wesson do you have? Can you post a picture? I have a model 15-2. LOVE DW revolvers!

yup the 38S&W is .361 diameter bullet because it was originally designed for the conversion cylinders for cap and ball revolvers
38spl is .357 inch bullet
the chart compares them however for pressure even though they have different bullet diamiters
it also compares 9mm , 380 , 38super a .355 bullet
they did leave out 38-200 although that is really a 38 S&W variant with a 200 gr lead round nose bullet the Brits used the guns were labeled 38-200 talk about a slow round
