Don't over look the other western states, how flexible are you about going?

The reason i ask if you can go with a couple days notice you can play the weather and wait for freash snow. Are you close to a major airport ?

I live in Wi and can fly and leave on a couple days notice. I was thinking CO or WY because I may drive. If you have another state and guide please share

What nvwrangler is suggesting is good advice. After you find a good guide be ready to drop everything when you get the call. Cougar hunting is all about timing (trackng snow).

Here are 4 guides to look at for Nevada

Headmasters out of Reno

Bull Ridge ( really good in the snow) Ely area

Jodi Finium Ely area

Bull Creek ( Dewire brothers year round service ) Ely area

Non res lic $150
Tag $100

If you decide early enough put in for Elk and Mule deer for fun

Wp for the Ely Nevada area hunts you could fly into Salt lake or Vegas for the Reno area Reno . You might also look into outfitters in the Elko area which would be a Salt lake flight

If you are willing to come to NM I have a couple buddies with stellar hounds and mules.
We have OTC with 2 limit and a quota limit in each zone. Both NM and CO have mandatory cougar ID classes.
Our cougar season is all year from 4/1-3/31

I’d second what Adam m said. New Mexico has some good lion hunting and like he said you can pretty much hunt year around. Season starts April 1 and most zones won’t fill the quotas until January or February. A lot of the cougar zones in the southwest part of the state never meet the quotas for closure. Snow increases your chances but I really enjoy hunting on mule or horseback and free casting dogs in an area known to have cats. Just make sure you find a reputable outfitter with good hounds.
