Get a wake up call neighbor has a skunk by his feed bunks in a cage trap, later another call I have 2 at another place I just podded 5 yesterday. I am finding some are bit up from fighting many have legs worms nasty things but no harm to the pelts or the pods. The pods are tough I cannot imagine a worm busting into the pods and living through it. LOL Their fat reserves are about used up spring needs to get here many are dehydrated and are at about 1/2 their body weights like sticking Nerf ball when I pole them.

Do those leg worms show up in other animals? Was skinning an otter this year and swore I pulled a worm out from between the hide and leg muscle.

Never seen the worms before. Lot of road kill stinkers now. Picked up three with pods still filled this last week. Got anywhere from 1/2 to 3/4 oz in each skunk. Hides had thick leather.
2 males had lots of small red marks all over the hide. Is this from biting?

Yep the breed is on here big time lots of fighting, the leather is tough it’s hard to give them shots when they are so soft now from dehydration. Lots of neck/shoulder biting here.

Those leg worms impact the whole weasel family it’s a frog eating cycle of the worms, in Africa they get into people after drinking nasty water different species I believe never heard of human issues with the ones we have.

You skunk guys better watch out. The same guy that came down on Dr. Seuss just came down on Pepe le Pew. He wrote a Op/Ed in the New York Times on how he contributed to the rape culture. It might just effect the market.
