I am amazed at the power in the new batteries. BUT I would like to use one with my ice fishing depthfinder. The battery is marked with a plus and minus I hook up the depth finder or a multimeter to these posts and it reads for a second then goes off. What do I need to do to hook the fish finder to the battery? Will it even work? I dont want to damage things(like I usually do) by playing around. Thanks ......jk

Yes it can be done. No you just can't hook it to the battery itself. The batteries are 18 volt you need to convert it to 12 volt. Milwaukee makes an adapter you can plug onto the battery that converts a 12 volt it has a USB port and a round port that you can plug into. The trick is figuring out how to convert your depth finder to a round plugin

I believe you can find aftermarket adapters with red and black wires on eBay or Amazon which would be simple enough to connect to

Thanks Steve my depthfinder is rated for 12 to 18 volts, and eagle. I tried to hook wires to the depthfinder with soldered on brass strips put into the two contacts that are marked plus and minus on the battery and it comes on and stops right away. A multimeter does the same thing, turns on and goes off right away? any ideas?.....jk

Battery is dead lol.

I don't have a clue, I haven't tried to wire mine up I was thinking about it until these new lithium 12 volt batteries came on the market. They rock.

My best guess is that if you were to check the voltage, its more than 18v. The fish finder has an internal safety thats kicking it off to prevent damage from a battery with too high of voltage.
Again, thats a guess.

Jk, I'm almost sure this would work

Get one of these to plug onto a M18 battery

Also get one of these to plug into the 12v 5.5mm port.

Simple matter of connecting to your depthfinder.

In reality I should build a set up myself. I already have the adapter to go on the batter and I carry a couple M18 batteries with me under the seat of my sled. I'm primarily using a strikemaster auger powered by the m18 drill.

When I needed 12 volts to run stuff I just bought a 12 v gel cell wheel chair battery. forget it. I just looked them up and they have gotten pricey.
