I have started to take a sharp knife and split the ear cartilage from the base (where it attaches to the skull) to the ear tip. Then I take a pair of pliers and peel each side off carefully. Works pretty well for me, I do this after fleshing but before stretching. I have gotten the hang of it and do a better job in a little less time than some of the ways shown in the fur processing guides.
