Cripes, that coyote price is terrible. You have never seen that type of coyote have you? Fur is far from the same all over North America.

Coyotes in this area is like looking for change in a parking lot. Most of the times you find pennies and occasionally you'll find few dimes and if your lucky a quarter.

The really good put up stuff brought well above the average. The one lot of poor drags the average down. Most of the castor For instance brought in the 85.00 range. The coyotes are vastly different and better the further west you go in Ky. My yotes are sorry. I don’t know if I’ll skin 10 % of them next year. I saw a YouTube video of yotes being bought in Iowa for ten bucks that would have brought 20-25 yesterday. About everything there was put up. Green stuff would have been cheap. I see a lot of green that are literally green on the pelt side too. We’re losing guys that take pride and the time in putting up fur but that’s mostly what we had there. No one left rich but we had a great day of fellowship and moved our fur.

We started doing em years ago and we've seen a marked increase in quality of put up.

I was actually the third person to sell there Saturday. I brought 144 articles. At least two of the buyers, the graders, and several trappers remarked on how well my fur put up was. I'm only saying that to put it into perspective for those reading this. I take a lot of pride in it. I also probably spend way too much time doing it, but it's good therapy.
Anyway, I brought 22% of the yotes and 25% of the red fox offered. My coyote, red fox, gray fox, and raccoon averages were all better than what the sale averages were, but not by much. My gray fox brought top prices for this sale. I was actually quite pleased with my rat prices as I sold several for above $6. I'm in a unique spot here in Western Kentucky where we have some coyotes with western coyote features. I have several a year that would grade semi heavy western at the now defunct NAFA. Those sold in the $30's Saturday, but although I cull about 30% of what I catch, I still had far too many sell below $10. It kills me to throw any away, but I'll have to be even more picky from now on I guess.
Like kytrapper said, and as you all know, a few bad lots really hurt the overall average. My coyote average would've been much better if I'd left 10 more coyotes in the truck.
Although I'm not thrilled with some of the prices, I am grateful to the United Trappers of Kentucky for giving it's members an outlet to sell our fur.

Cripes, that coyote price is terrible. What do you figure the hourly wages to trap, put up and sell coyotes for $10? Of course they would need at least $25 an hour plus benys if it was called work.
