Broadaxe... For hewing logs into beams, etc... The blade is offset to give clearance.

I must have 20 of them but prefer the mill. I do however like the contour hewing gives. Are there any makers marks on it? Posted for a friend but didn't see any marks on it. But didn't look super close

Watched a gentleman at Silver Dollar City hew felled trees into square beams with one... log dogs, broadaxe, chalkline, framing square and some time and sweat... End product was as square and true as anything you can buy today.

When I saw the original post my first thought was, why doesn't he know what that is......then I saw the OP'r is from Kansas. Which I would guess is one of, if not the most timber deficient State in the Union.

Which I would guess is one of, if not the most timber deficient State in the Union. Ya want to buy some grass? We have a lot more grass than trees overall in this state, but there are some areas of timber , especially in eastern Ks. Cows don't eat trees! Best place for a few trees is in the yard to help shade the house, after that, they're only good for fire wood, mostly!
