A friend of ours offered to sell us a Case DX29 tractor for $4500.00 including a finish motor, bush hog, snow plow and auger attachment. I think that is a very good price. Do any of you have experience with this tractor?

Keith

No experience with that tractor, but it sounds like a good deal to me.

I'm sure your local market is different than mine, but if I got offered that deal I'd be hauling it home already laugh

Not a lot of them out there, so it's tough to get an accurate gauge of what's a "normal" price. But honestly it seems far too cheap unless they're just trying to get rid of it. There's nothing wrong with that model of tractor, so if it;s a friend and you trust it's not about to implode, I'd jump on it.

I suggest you call a Case dealer and ask them. First find out : Model Year , How many hours on it, and Engine HP. :-)

Trying to get a real answer from a dealer won’t go well. If they are willing to answer (some just won’t bother), they only know what price they would give on trade and what their resale price on the lot would be. Neither of which is accurate for a private treaty sale. Tractor prices are a funny thing, its like a top secret “boys club” when you stsrt asking. At least around here. Most of the dealers are nothing more than equipment jockeys.

Thanks to everyone who responded. We have an appointment to look at it. I'm taking another friend with me, who is very good at fixing old tractors. It's supposed to have low hours on it, but I don't know the number. If it doesn't have any apparent major issues, I plan on buying it. I have a lot of work I need a tractor for and I don't want to borrow one, even though I have friends who offered to lend me one.

Two good places to research the unit:
TractorData.com
[Linked Image]

And for pricing Tractorhouse.com

I realize the description of the unit your looking at didn’t include a cab or loader but in my opinion at $4,500 with multiple attachments is a steal if in decent condition.
