I do -- I don't know about BP but we are both farmers so we are used to long hours and no money. grin I aspire to reach minimum wage but they keep increasing it here.

Nice looking otters there Minz. Yeah, I discovered that I can get better money for nutes by skinning out the tail and leaving that on. Add the price of the skull and I'm making the same money I made on nutria in the 80's.

What part of the state you in Minz?

An 18 pounder is a monster. It’d be cool to see one that big live.

Nice.

You should try grabbing hold of one that big live by the tail.

I am over in Boring.
I kept some skulls. I would say I had two that had to be close to 20 lbs. Started reading up on them after we got a few and we were laughing that Wikipedia had them at only about 12 pounds. Later in the season we found that the first few were just monsters.
Can you tell the cleaned skulls apart easy from a beaver? One of the skulls had larger teeth than the small beaver.

In relation to the size of the skull, nutria teeth are larger than beavers'. Also nutria teeth tend to be slightly darker orange and have more of a curve to them. Beaver skulls are slightly broader than nutrias.

This is what my nutria boards look like, even though lately I've been putting up nutria on my otter boards to accommodate the tail. They are 5.5" wide.

I am running the 9” wide at 66” from the FHA manual, I see the large western otter board from the north American is 8” @ 38”. do you think the nutria would stretch over that? I see that the North American Pelt handling has 3 different board sizes, looks like yours may be the small one? I am not cutting out another board this year and may not get into it next year but curious.

We get some big otter, here. Big, fat mink, as well. I use boards 8" wide, 84" long, and will be making a couple 10" boards.
