I got a question for my fellow GA boys. I know commercial turtle trapping is illegal here in our state but can I trap turtles for food for myself? Softshell turtle is some of the best meat Ive ever had and I see them more often out in the river than in private ponds. Can I legally trap them for me to eat? Or am I limited to hook and line or shooting them?

No commercial turtle trapping. We lost that almost ten years ago. Only allowed is brood stock permits for our turtle farms. You may keep ten on a regular fishing license or least that was the deal we worked out. Its probably changed knowing the DNR.

This time of the year, they will find a 330 pretty regularly in a beaver run, I have wondered the same thing.

That’s why summer ADC beavermen rely on snares and footholds.
