Last year I sent 20 beaver out to Moyle’s in a large tv box. It cost me 185 bucks to ship and took 30 days to ship because it was the beginning of the China flu. Do you guys have any better suggestions for shipping? There has to be a cheaper way.

Any tanneries close by where you can drop off directly? $185 worth of gas will get you pretty far.

I sent 8 or so beaver to a tannery a few years ago rolled up and slid into a Sonnet tube . I made ends for the tube from some heavy cardboard and tapped them up good . It worked like a charm and wasn't that expensive . I got the idea from someone on here several years ago .

I go to a feed store and get a poly feed sack and just use a large black permanent market to write the address. Then I go back to the store and have them sew the sack shut for me with their machine. The pelts are slightly rolled in that situation and even though it is still spendy at least you're not paying for a big heavy box too.

Find a molding box and cut it down to size the overall size of that TV box was the killer on the price. I go store to store here until I find a box that will works or I can a big box I can make into what I need.

Have you already used Tubari and Z&L Trading here in the east?
Do a bing or google search.
Don’t know any unhappy customers of either.

Keep your package under 108 inches girth plus length. Ship Standard mail (or whatever the name for parcel post is these days)! Mail prices are slowly putting me out of business. frown

P.S. Prices are now more a function size than weight these days.

A box that gold clubs or golf club bags come in works pretty good.

It is ok to gently roll them as tight as possible. If you ship them flat, the dimensional weight will kill you.

Who did you use to ship them last year? Even with dimensional weight, $185.00 seems excessive. Dried pelts can travel by ground. They don’t need to go air mail or overnight.

I thought about this and really couldn't figure out how to roll more than eight. Not even sure I could do that with our thick hided XL to XXL beavers. You would be my hero if you could do eight of mine.

I haven’t had any beavers tanned, but I have always been very happy with Z&L in New Jersey. If I had to ship beavers I’d try to roll them

Roll up several and put them in your box. Then roll one at a time and put them inside the ones you already have in the box. I find it works better if you save the smaller and thinner ones for last. Suggest you wrap the box up really good before stuffing them in or you might blow out the box before you finish. Seems I can always get 2 or 3 more in this way.

Was going to ship mine as mentioned above (rolled up like a poster)... Decided to take a ride instead... Tubari are great folks to deal with.

Started working on shipping. Special care kicks in over 130" so the box is 48"x34"x7" (<130=L+2W+2T). The cost was under $80. I just played with the box size on the website until the "special handling" $100 went away. I had 14 beavers flat, some 44" otters, minks, rats and still could have added a lot more.

Not sure what part of Ohio you are from. But Arlington Cape does fur tanning. They are in Ohio. Might drop them off?

Have you tried Sleepy Creek in Iowa?

I've heard from a couple different sources that Spee Dee is cheaper than any other delivery service (if available where you're at).
