Taxpayer dollars can not possibly fund the rampant spending the govt. does. Tax dollars primarily fund entitlement programs and the fed just prints the rest for all the pork barrel crap. Therein lies the unsolvable math problem. Hyperinflation will hit, it’s not a question of IF but WHEN.

What's it called when the price of OSB doubles. Officially it is called 2% inflation. smile

We don't have to worry about our Grandchildren paying it off. It will have tripled by then.

The magic number 72 divided by the percent rate gives you how many years it takes to double itself. If the interest was 6% then divided into 72 would be 12 years to double if no payments was paid. Correct me if I'm wrong, can't remember like I used to.

$2000 a month? I might retire early or at least when I was planning on retiring.

And just like that, everything the “orange man” did was undone and put us back another decade. Pretty soon no one will be working or want to work and become solely dependent upon the government.
I was raised under the biblical saying that said, if a man doesn’t work, then he doesn’t eat. I was one hungry little boy growing up and it carried on into adulthood. Uncle Sam sorta reenforced that notion to the point I’ve been called cruel and heartless. I have no issue with folks struggling. If one job isn’t cutting it then get a second job. The will to survive is strong, some folks just need a little motivation and food is a great motivator.

Then the next question, is there really any gold in Fort Knox ? Not even Congress can answer that.

The federal government does have physical gold stashed away, just probably not in one main place such as "Fort Knox". Do we have enough to go back on the gold standard? No, not at the current price or perhaps not at any "acceptable" price. But I would certainly take some physical gold if people offered it to me grin

If they want whiskey or drugs they can be quite motivated aye.

AOC would probably be non-intellect enough to give everybody all the money they want. Then people would be unwilling to exchange goods for 'money' they did not want. The lesser case is too many dollars chasing too few goods, that is, inflation, less valuable dollars whether they are printed or in some other form.

Sorry to tell you this but the printing and bond buying started with the Bushman, and has continued through the Kenya man, including the Orange man, onto the Senile man, and next will be the Sleazy WO-man. smile

Very true but at least under the Trump administration wages increased, unemployment hit record low numbers and a record high number of people entered the workforce. That is the pulse of a “real” economy as opposed to the propped up ones we’ve had with previous and current leaders. I’m not saying Trump cured anything but at least people were earning AND spending money. One needs to look no further than housing starts, housing prices and it continues even through the pandemic.

Interesting. Then this summer's anniversary will be a Jubilee since our currency was taken off the gold standard.

I'm beginning to think the wisest move would be to convert it all into Yuan so you can bribe the Chinese when the time comes.

Dirt, it started before that. Magnitude is the key issue.
