An old long spring with 4 springs. I'm fairly new to the trapping world and definitely not well versed in antique traps.
Can someone give some insight on this please?

There was also this old bear trap. It has a drag attached to the chain and a thin square pan. I'm not sure what the make of this one is. I'm pretty certain it's not blacksmith made. What's a company that produces bear traps with square pans?

I know better pictures would probably be needed to tell, but just curious

I don’t think I have enough hands to set a four long spring trap.

My guess is the springs got sprung so they added more for holding power.

A while back I remember a post by Asa Lennon who posted that his father Herb Lennon who used no4s that he had added 2 extra springs to for trapping wolves back in the day, the trapper that one belonged to might have done the same

Weak trap. Those are helper springs.
There are several ways to handle weak springs on long springs.
Great way for those antis to make a trap look inhumane. If you go there again I'd explain to the manager whats going on and ask the manager to remove that trap. Even give him another trap to replace it.

just.

I doubt anyone not familiar with trapping would even notice the doubled double long springs. I would just complement them on the nice trap display and leave it at that.

Hard to tell from the pictures , but some of that stuff may be 'manufactured' memorabilia/antiques.

You are dealing with a chain restaurant/corporation. I've seen fake racing car hoods on the walls of Texas Roadhouse and fake taxidermy mounts there too. Applebees has fake memorabilia too.

Last time I was in a Cracker Barrel restaurant I looked up at a stretching board , about muskrat size or so. I noticed it had some stains , patina and an aged look to the wood. But no wear , scratches or any damage. Looked fake IMO.

It's a lot easier and cheaper for a big corporation to buy manufactured stuff than to hunt down the real thing. It's easy to make a brand new stretching board look weathered and old.
