Are the new 10-22 as good as the older ones ? Been thinking I should get one and wasn't sure if I should go new or used

Thanks

The triggers seem better than the older ones. The housing is plastic.

My newer one hasn't failed yet. It's a stainless/ synthetic model.

Bought a brand new one last October. Shoots like a dream and accurate as anything. We were shooting flip up targets at 75 yards went 3 rounds with 4 of us taking one shot only. The last shot on the 3rd round, was missed. The rest of us got up to round 7 before we lost another. I finally missed on round 11 and my son missed which would’ve started round 12. A fun little rifle and really good for getting trigger time in for big game. I’d rather go through several hundred rounds of .22 ammo than .308 ammo.

I've heard there's a difference and the newer ones aren't as good, I don't know. I have one from the late 70's/early 80's and I have one about 10 years old, and I have 2 newer ones. They all shoot everytime I pull the trigger and are as accurate as I ever need them to be. I've killed thousands of animals with them without any trouble. I can tell you it's not from meticulous care I give them. lol

One thing about a 10-22 it can be almost anything you want it to be. The last ones I made from scratch. Only thing Ruger on them was the mag, box trigger and sometimes the barrel. All shoot like a dream.

Have had 2 early model I got as a Christmas present in 1973, I put thousands of rounds through it, in the 90’s my 2 boys put thousands more rounds through it. Should have been wore out but it still fired every time and hit what you aimed at. It’s kind of rough looking.
Santa brought me a new one this past Christmas it shoots the same. Trigger might be a little better.
But what did you expect it’s a Ruger.

A buddy bought a new one last summer. Thing was a jamming son of a gun!!,
Was good with old time rounds like stingers and yellow jackets but horrible with the cheap stuff.

swampgas chili and schmidt beer makes for a deadly combo

The only failures my old one had was due to aftermarket mags. None with the factory ones.

Bought my wife the takedown, put a red dot on it and turned her loose on the knockdown range. I swear you can’t miss with that thing. Sturdy work horse, very customizable.

The newer trigger assemblies are cheaper with alot of plastic. Easier to get a drop in unit as opposed to having one done....for those of us who don't like stock, super hard, triggers.

Other than that, both my old 1022 and newer 1022 shoot real well.

The polymer trigger housings have proven to be better than the aluminum ones. Especially if you are going to do aftermarket trigger components because the polymer are all exactly the same and it makes it easier to tune. While the aluminum housings seem like they would be "stronger" the polymer can take a blow with less chance of damage. Critics did some testing when they first came out and found a dropped rifle will dent the aluminum trigger guards, where the poly just bounces off. I prefer the aluminum as far as nostalgic ,but pure performance, i run the poly housings. It may be dificult to find a new rifle right now as Ruger has not been getting many of them out.
