Good point. PIck up another job and most would be money ahead. Trapping is a hobby now (like golf), not a real source of income.

Get a garden spot ready soon, Coonman. It is amazing how much produce you will get off a small plot. I know you have knee problem. Just the soft soil will provide a cushion. Are you still getting beaver? Save all the meat as it is delicious. Even the heart, kidneys, and liver are special in a stew. Save, save, and save some more!

And the first post started off so well. Good prices and I was able to read it. Now not so much. If your planning on putting in a garden better get seeds first.

I'm sure someone in your town you could hire to till you a spot, usually runs $20. Seeds are every where right now at Thiesens, Walmart, etc. Go to recycle place and get newspapers to lay down in between rows and then take all your grass clippings and place on papers. Saves you from weeding.

Take some of your fur money and build a couple raised beds. They will be easier on your knees

You would go broke buying the lumber.

I always grow a big garden but I'm fortunate to have the land and equipment. But I have one friend who lives on the side of a steep hill and he grows his garden in 5 gallon buckets on his deck. And I'm talking about probably 10 different veggies all in buckets. Even corn. I'm sure you can find some old buckets for free

I put in a good sized garden,,but also always plant a deck garden in buckets.Cukes,Cherry tomatoes, beans peas, all kinds of stuff. That is so my wife and grandkids can just step out on the deck and pick fresh vegges any time they want.

Best way to save money on groceries. I raised three boys to men, fed countless other families, and ate nutritionally for decades. It takes a little work but I look at it as a way of life as well as a ministry. LLL

Yes the chicken are great. I am a big fan of onion rings as well as sliced tomatoes but I love spinach and cabbage. So many ways to eat cabbage but that is my German heritage coming out there. LLL
