If not live marketing dont need em, imo. I bought 2 dozen shock springs years ago and I believe they do help, I still have em on some 450s and 550s, but its more to bury when bedding. I wasnt sold on em enough to put them on all the traps. On the domestics, set as far away from houses as you can

You’ll be fine with stock 450’s provided you’re on a 24hr check. agreed

Im in the process of removing shock springs from all my footholds. Had them on all traps for live market coyote and fox over the past 3 decades. Dont do live market any longer. Will have about 20 dozen for sale soon. Both JC Connor and PIT.

You’ll be fine without them. I ran shock springs on about a quarter of my 450s. I think they help, but on a 24 hour check they certainly aren’t necessary.

I don't see what possible disadvantage the fox-type shock springs could have. I like 'em.
Right now I’m having amnesia and déjà vu at the same time. I think I’ve forgotten this before.

I assume that after a few hours In a trap most critters just lay down and pretty much give It up. Unless of coarse if they are getting harassed then they will be up and fighting the trap. I see no reason to use a shock spring.

I see no reason to use a shock spring. I don't know. I had a red fox on camera for hours. He never stopped fighting that I could see. The camera would take video like every five minutes.

I use shock springs and I believe they give me 2 advantages. On a shorter chain staked solid even the ones who flip summersaults cannot defeat the spring- they wear themselves out trying. I also like them on drag set ups- I think when I have a less than perfect pad catch they once again give the catch something to stretch out as opposed to defeating my (again) less than perfect pad catch.
On the big hogs I snare, IDK what I would do w/o them. I loop set some very large powerful springs and I am sure I would not have kept a couple catches without them.
