I hate the smell of raccoon let alone the taste.

that might change if you haven't eaten for awhile

I had two (out of 6) dogs that would eat coon fat...and throw up immediately afterwards. None would touch the meat. Good luck with that.

Back in the day, my Dad rendered coon fat to put on our work shoes and boots. In the winter time when they got wet, we would take them off and set them under the old wood stove in the living room to dry out. We only had wood stoves to heat and cook with at the time. When they started warming up they would stink so bad it would gag a maggot. Smelled just like a wet coon. I almost threw up just reading this thread..

predators have a craving for fat.
rendered fat is not the same as raw fat. fish oil, bto, skunk oil for example. you never hear about coon fat being used that way. i never rendered any. i been told by a guy i believe, that dogs will gobble up cooked coon carcasses. Dogs love coon carcasses cooked and burnt.

There is no way I could eat something cooked with Coon lard, I just couldn't.
I think I'll pass too.

Crows won't even the dead coon on the highway, same with possums.
Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.
