I ended up with the ez100 tan kit but the instructions are kind of tough to follow as they jump around between salted and dried and thicker hides and ive never done this before
As I see it.
1. Rehydrate in saltbath or with the ez relaxer solution
2. Pickle
3. Degrease
4. Neutralize
5. Tan
6. Oil and stretch

Pickle, degrease, wash and thin are all in the same block of instructions here.
With these coons I was wondering if it would be better to degrease in the rehydrate process and maybe even pickle process also. Or degrease before pickle instead of after. Unsure if the super solvent messes with the ph though.

I degreased my beaver during the rehydration process before I pickled it.

With a coon, you have to shave that neck/saddle down that baby is THICK! Just got done with my first, and I love the majority of it, but I have a long way to go! I used orange bottle, and am very happy with the results, but I followed the instructions to a t (and even did a second tan, which helped).

John I had better luck letting the coon almost fully dry after the pickle then thinning with a wire wheel vs. a knife. Then just rinsed it in clean water to get shavings out and rehydrate before adding tanning solution. Helped with the thickness of the neck.

Update:
Ordered the ultra-soft and mixed it per directions for greasy hides to rehydrate. That stuff is amazing. It cleaned them right up also with no work.
Hides are in the pickle now so I think ill be ready for the neutralize and tanning part this weekend.

I didn't thin while wet just because I'm not very confident in the whole fleshing biz yet. I will try that though, thank you!
