I think horseradish has a place but to me it's not on a prime rib or a good steak. A lower cut fine and I agree with BernieB it takes the flavor of the meat away. A little seasoning of salt, pepper and garlic powder is what I use.

And why in the heck with you put cheese on a pie??!! Ice cream sounds great but cheese no. What's wrong with you guys? And I'm from the cheese state and haven't heard of that. I also eat way over the normal amount of cheese. I usually have a ziploc bag of chunk cheese cut up in pieces my refrigerator. I snack on cheese all the time.

Sauce on steak is for when someone screwed it up. Unfortunately I've experienced a few ruined prime ribs. One occasion was when my cousin married into a greek family and they hired a caterer and the greek sisters were about to kill the caterer. The prime rib had zero seasoning not any flavor. The other was at Outback and the prime rib was GREY! Needless to say it got sent back and the replacement wasn't much better. Not sure I've been back since.

If there's one food pairing you shouldn't knock until you try it, it's cheddar and apple pie. Good cheddar. You're not going to get it until you try it.

I love wasabi with raw fish, but horseradish, for me, only goes into a good bloody mary.. never on a good piece of beef.

I never ate cheese on pie, but I have learned to love a bit of black cherry jam on a piece of sheep cheese. That works.

I can't imagine why anyone would destroy good food with horseradish. Just eat the horseradish you won't taste the meat anyway! Wasabi? Just used to cover up the taste of poor cooking,.

Horseradish, wasabi or ketchup on steak or prime rib should be rewarded with prison time.

True Dat, anything other than salt and pepper is, well, un-american. I love horseradish, but not on PR.

Prime rib if cooked right should melt in your mouth without Coke added. Doesn't it draw some of the sugar into the meat?

It is illegal to sell apple pie in public places without cheese in Wisconsin.

At least that's what we were told in public school in Wisc. circa 1955.

In reality:1935 Laws of Wisconsin, Chapter 106 required serving a small amount of cheese and butter with meals in restaurants (eff. June 1935 – March 1937).
