k gang.....as most of us already know...the ar15 is a semiautomatic.....and shoots 223..................we also have semiauto 22, which is pretty much the same thing,,,, so why are these idiots opting for the ar15 when a semi auto 22 is usually cheaper and more readily available?? I was asked that question last night in a debate......and have to admit...they had me...because I could only answer with I dunno.....maybe its the intimidation factor??

When campaigning, Joe said, " any firearm capable of having 10 rounds or more will become a NFA qualified firearm. It will be registered and an enhanced background check will be made on the applicant along with the appropriate application fees" Presumably that will include any firearm with a detachable magazine.
So your 10-22 WILL be declared included as a National Firearms Act item.
Those who would give up essential liberty, to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety. Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790)

Because the left is promoting the AR15 as the most effective weapon for mass shootings.

Because many have finally reached the tipping point in government control over the lives of free people. If the government intends to continue on it's current path, the people may not put up with it any more. The government doesn't fear what the people might do with .22LR's because you can't fight a war with .22LR.
The AR-15 is just the poster child because it looks like the "weapons" of war in the movies. It's been chosen to get soccer moms to support the ban. The ban will really be any rifle suitable for military uses. Expect all semi autos with detachable magazines and all "high caliber" rifles. They will probably put a limit on muzzle energy. .22lr may be exempted because it's useless for military purposes.
Two types of light arms are useful in a war (or revolt). High capacity semi autos let you work your way closer to the enemy and high muzzle energy rifles (semi or bolt) let you engage the enemy at long distances. Both will be gone.
And, don't think the republicans will attempt to stop this. They'll do a little theater performance to pretend to try to stop it but they fear you too.

Your mistake is that you tried to find sense in an answer concerning gun control when all of it is completely without. Trying to find a sensible answer to an idiotic proposal is not an easy task.

If you think that they stop at AR style rifles, I have a cheap bridge to sell and some nice property. Come at low tide

Why do mass shooters choose to use ARs? Because they are told by the the media and the democrats to do so. I was AKs for the longest. 2X

Because the left is promoting the AR15 as the most effective weapon for mass shootings. And don't forget, Nancy P. said this is the same weapon soldiers take to war!

It's because that's what they think sells because most people don't have a clue what the military has or uses let alone.have fired a gun.

it isn't what mechanically separates them it is that they look like what the army carries to the un observant
people have been told it looks scary and thus must go
it is all about the look not the function.
bolt action rifles with similar features often get mistaken as "those evil black rifles" by the un observant.
America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.
