My shoe size is 10 1/2 or 11,I always get hippers or waders in size 12. Always more than enough room for plenty of socks. Tom

I bought a size bigger but could not keep them on my feet I added some short wool boot liners they fit right now, buying boots is a crap shoot.

Hip boots and chest waders must fit snug. If they are too loose - two things will happen. First is that if you get into any kind of muck, your foot will lift out of the boot bottom. The second is that your socks will work their way down and drive you crazy. Understand what you're saying....but I have trapped water for 55 seasons and boots shouldn't be so tight they hurt your feet.
