Here in KS we have a turnpike. Built 60 some years ago. The toll was allowed to pay for construction. I don't know what the construction costs were but it must have been alot. It is still a toll road. Who knows where the money goes. Its like tax dollars. Impossible to track accurately though a few "administrators" are collecting some serious salaries...

Same in with the NJ turnpike. Tolls were going to be in place until the construction project was paid off. But, it's been under constant construction somewhere along it's length for 70 years.

From what I understand the turnpike isn’t maintained by the state. It isn’t the state that receives the toll money. Kansas turnpike authority does. I have no idea who they are actually though, and if the state owns it and KTA just maintains it or what all that is about. It is a great secret it seems.

The PA turnpike is said to be the most expensive toll road in the world. We have one of the highest gas taxes in the nation and property taxes here are insane. We have one of the biggest, most bloated state governments in the nation. They tax us to death and still claim they have no money.

WV turnpike is a toll road. It was supposed to be turned over to the state when it was paid for. It actually was paid for several years ago,and the morons at the state level didn't take the toll off,because it would put so many toll collectors,etc,,,,, out of work.

Its always the same LIE. Kinda like lottery money. It's going to fund schools. Somehow it just disappears into the same bottomless pit.

Mafia was collecting a huge portion of I95 tolls in Joisey. No telling how much toll money is still being scammed off. I80-90 turnpike across IN was bought by chinese entrepreneurs.

Anyone crossed the George Washington bridge coming out of the Bronx lately? Tell me thats not a 100% scam.

I will say that the Kansas toll road is one of the nicest roads I drove on last week.

The New York State Thruway was supposed to be free after it was paid for. How many years ago was that. Are not our gas taxes supposed to pay for the upkeep? The tolls on the NYC bridges are unbelievable. Another government theft!

Been about ten years since we sent a truck to the city, but round trip was at least 400 back then for all the bridges/tunnels.

Gov. Wolf put a 6 dollar tax on every vehicle in Pa. without 99% of the people knowing it.

State inspection stickers had been $2.00 until he raised them to $5. No complaints so the next year they go to $6 and then the next they go to $8.00. We raised our prices from $28 to $33 and we're (garages) the ones catching flack. lol

We have one of those government theft Bridges crossing the Columbia River from Oregon to Washington.

I asked the turkey legger in the booth why we were still paying 50 yrs later . She said it was for maintenance

Looks to me like it's never been maintained

Only thing maintained is the forever retirement and benefits for the turkey leggers in the booth
