I've got an old red clay mortar that I've had forever. Lots of wear in the glazing and there are a couple of child's handprints on it. Bottom is rough, and glazing is spotty. Since I have quite a bit of native ancestors, I'm wondering if this could date that far back? I always figure there are some pretty smart people here that know some weird things lol [Linked Image]

Sorry,Not native American, see the swirl marks on the inside from a potters wheel. But it still could be later native after 1800s i guess.

Not sure, but I don't believe the early native stuff was glazed either. I think they used their pottery just fired.
