Here's a pic from when I got it, it's doing round six in the oven as we speak. Now, no more using two or three skillets to fry fish, chicken, or taters. I love this thing!

I wonder if tap dancers walk into a room, look at the floor, and think, I'd tap that. I wonder about things.....

Looks like an older 3-notch Lodge from the 1950's if I were to guess - would have notches in the heat ring on the bottom of the skillet at 3-9-12 o'clock. Still has the swirl marks from the surface grinding on the cook surface.

Got two of them, myself. Just the right size to fry a single serving of taters for me. grin

Nice find, Catch.

Remember , it's not the size of your skillet , it's how ya cook with it laugh

Methinks your friends here on Tman will be having skillet envy. What does your lady friends think of the size of your skillet and how hot it is ? grin

Well it may be heavy enough she won't be able to swing it at him when she is mad. Great plan actually.

Do the bigger pans work better with electric? My 12” is tough to fry with on my gas stove because the heat gets concentrated over the flame. Outside the flame stays considerably cooler and I need to constantly rotate food around the pan. Even on the oversized burner its a pain.

Bigger the pan the longer it takes to preheat. Best way to preheat those large CI skillets is in the oven where your heating up the entire mass evenly - broiler works, too. Quickest way to warp a cast iron skillet is to hit it with high heat on the stovetop.
