I have one 14

Unmarked Wagner/Griswold I was told

Has a little pitting on the sides but bottom is in pretty good shape. Took some work to get it cleaned up

That's a beauty!

I wonder if tap dancers walk into a room, look at the floor, and think, I'd tap that. I wonder about things.....

I have two 15" cast iron skillets. One i keep at deer camp and another I take camping with us. Works great for cooking on the fire. Can cook a whole meal in it at one time.got mine at walmart. 16 dollers I think they were.not a lodge but they do ok. Took a grinder and buffing wheel to slick up the bottom before I seasoned em

Be interesting to see a real value chart on these.
Some of the asking prices make me scratch my head.

Some of the selling prices will make you scratch your head, too. Collector's of old cast iron cookware have been around for a long time but there's been a big jump onto that bandwagon in recent years and the increased demand has really driven up prices. Just like old traps, if you know what you're looking for you can "buy low and sell high" as many of the old CI cookware pieces will sell for hundreds of dollars, some for thousands - small details make the difference. There are a couple of books currently sold relating to cast iron collecting that help somewhat in sorting out the more valuable pieces from the more common ones, but the published values are way off in many cases to what today's market brings. Of those books, "The Book of Griswold & Wagner: Favorite Piqua, Sidney Hollow Ware, Wapak with Price Guide" is the most recent and referred to - known as "The Blue Book" by collectors.

Yes, I thought that prices would come down because the older folks that collect were dying off. I was wrong, the new crowd of yougins want them because it's "non toxic and better for the environment". Prices are crazy high.

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

There are bigger skillets out there. Lodge made a two-handled 17" skillet up til a few years ago that can be bought reasonable and Griswold made a 20" hotel skillet way back in the day - one of those will sell for upwards of $500 these days. The cover/lid they made for it sells for double that. There are a few other #16 and #20 skillets that were made but those are also very hard to find.

You might keep an eye out for an oval fish fryer - very handy as a large skillet and relatively common. There's a shallow version and a deep version to those pieces - covers/lids, too.

That would make one big pancake! Nice. Not many cook with cast iron anymore.

Man, I looked at the photo and thought "Heck, I have the twin to that thing". Got to reading the measurements and etc. and decided to go get the tape and pull mine outa the oven to see......Not even close! My whopper pan is only 12 1/2 inches across. That one I have is huge, but all those shown above are huger! Mine is still heavy enough I honestly don't think my Bride could have used mine, at least not as a weapon......on me.

Great find Catch 22!

Lol. I just measured mine and it's 15 1/4" across. 16 1/2" across the pour spouts.
