I have a friend whose dad passed away. His dad was a logger. He has all kinds of wood burls that he had saved. Are they valuable? Where would you sell them at? Should he just burn them? This site is the only place I've seen people chat about wood burls. Thanks!

They can be worth some money depending on size and type of wood.

I'll ask about the type of wood and size. I don't think his dad would've kept them if he didn't think they were valuable. Thanks for all the help so far. I live in NW PA if anybody is interested.

DONT BURN THEM!!!!!!!! wood turners, knife makers, furniture makers are all interested in that stuff. If you know what kind of wood that'd be helpful in directing you.

Any woodworking stores in your area would know wood turner’s and the like who would be very interested in those burls. I wouldn’t burn them. They make beautiful bowls, tool and knife handles.

I have a spruce tree that is a burl. The whole tree is burled from bottom to top. It even has small burls growing on the limbs. Don't know if spruce burls have any significant value. [Linked Image]
