There was a show on a few years ago about them. I think the guy was in Californistan. They were paying a small fortune for the ones he was digging out.

definitly don't burn them

I got several off a tree I cut 2 years ago gave them to a friend of mine who makes bowls , I asked he make me a bowl from one no other payment needed

it's a cool bowl.

they have value and wood turners buy them I just don't know how you sell them.

As stated above try wood web. If you have any Woodcraft stores they would be the best way to find buyers or potentially buy them from you. Those burls are like most things, they are worth money but you need to find a buyer and preferably a buyer you don’t need to ship too.

I'll bet Ebay would get you some sales too. Yes they have value.

I cut one off a storm damaged oak and had my daughters first squirrel mounted on it. Looks like its grown out of the wall and squirrel hanging out doing squirrel things.

I have a guy at work that likes to turn bowls out of them. They turn out really nice.

I'm not sure on bowls, I would check- I know a lot of bowl turners like to turn the burl when it's green within 10% of the finished size prior to storing (usually in the turned shavings in a bag)- if dried completely I heard they can crack and or shatter on the lathe when relieving stresses during turning.
I would ask at a Woodcraft or Rockler- they usually have one bowl turner on staff that is very knowledgeable.

He said he had about 20 of them. He wasn't sure what type. I'll see if I can get some pictures soon.

They can be made into some pretty cool stuff. This is a white oak burl that was turned into a table that I purchased last year. It serves as a coffee table and my computer keyboard sits on it. Definitely find a market for the ones that you have since they can be very valuable to the right person.

I believe smaller burls are used to make fancy tobacco pipes... They definitely have value. Don't burn them.

I found a birch burl on a tree up at camp, I looked into values and at the time, unless it was walnut they didn't seem to be worth much, a lot for sale on the few sites I checked but few seemed to be selling.
Theres was also talk about the time it takes to cure them, and problems with cracking.
I don't turn wood so I really have no idea what that takes, I left the burl on the tree....YMMV.

The burl market is one i have tried for twenty years, but still haven't found a way to corner it , sold a few to knife makers, woodworkers , and bowl and pen turners, and found most are really picky. have sent a few out of the country . had my lumber brokers on the look out for buyers and found one in China ,but had to have container ship loads to sale. turning blanks are the easiest way to sale because they want to see what there buying. so check all knife makers, and ebay is the way to move some. its mostly make a product out of it then sell it type of deal. Lots of people say ther worth alot of money but knowone can tell you where to sale, Redoak was my biggest salers and it has to have lots of Birdseye and swirl. since im getting old i will get you one good contact PM ,ed.

Here they bring very good money for the bigger ones, the turning guys used them for bowls, locust burls were the highest value, I think a lot of it has to do with where you’re at, here there’s not many trees to begin with and very few burls on the ones that are around.
