What is a good use for this? A local spots shop have some here that they say was ordered by mistake. 100 rounds of 12 ga 3 1/2” loads in a 100 round pack for 52.00. Never fooled with steel shot, so have not idea.

Well might have to take up goose hunting. How would it work for things like coyote and fox. # 2 is large as we are allowed to use at night here.

#2 steel is a duck load,if you plan on using it for geese, make sure they are real close. Tom

SJE--#2 lead shot was considered a goose load--not #2 steel. And Moosey ,I am right with you on the BB and BBB--they do an excellent job. My 870 is 2 3/4 inch ,while my Mossberg is a 3 inch. Over the last 40 yearsI have seldom used 3 inch. Tom

I agree with Bogmaster. While I have killed geese with #2 steel, they have to be close. The #2 steel is considered equivalent to #4 lead. When I goose hunt I use BB or BBB steel. In past years I duck hunted the MIssissippi just about every day of the season and always used 3" #2 steel.
Moosetrot The only thing I can say is that we don't pass shoot and hunt over dekes and consistently take Canadas with STEEL #2's at approx. 25 > 40 yds. and ducks with #3 & 4's. I personally use 2 3/4 " # 2 or 4's. I guess it all depends on the skill of the shooter and set up.

If Matt has never fooled with steel shot,he is not a waterfowl hunter. So if I were him,I would stick to those loads for ducks. Or learn the use of decoys to get any geese real close. Tom

Thanks for the reply’s. The only ducks I have killed where for my grandmother and I used tried and true ax. I don’t waterfowl hunt, so I really have no idea. Think I will pick up box, I am sure they will come in handy at some point. I have both a 935 and 835 that will handle 3 1/2” shells.

3 1/2 inch 2s for $13 a box I would buy all I could. Best used for big ducks. Not bad on small geese, snows-cacllkler-lesser-tavner, but not on big geese unless you are close or good enough shot to head shoot. For big geese I go with the BB and BBB guys. BBB is better for me on big geese. Faster is better too. 1550 fps or faster works much better then 1300-1400 fps stuff .

Never thought to add that. But they are 1550 FPS, what’s on the box anyway.
