I heard that a Beslisle would do it. I bought a few to try out. This morning was the second beaver that I caught in them. It was caught firmly by the tail. About a 45 pounder and it wasn't going anywhere. These traps are the real deal.

Obviously you don't know how to set your traps right if you're catching them by the tail, lol but that's ok I don't know either. laugh

Bridgers do the same. This one was nice enough to stick his head in the next channel. Caught another one a couple years back that was waiting for me. Not real happy either.

Catch'n em by the tail is probably better than shoot'n em in it.

(I just assuming this was from a rifle, makes for a cool story anyway)

Jmack I bet if that trap had been anchored that beaver would have pulled out. Makes for a cool picture though.

With the Belisles I have made: tail catches, front foot catches, back foot catches, and both a front foot and back foot same time catches. Sometimes even by the head!

You can't beat the Belisle traps.

Teeth work as well There is a huge “bowl” by that bottom stake with a tail catch.

Lot easier to do with a magnum body gripper, I have even caught a couple by the castors --and they were'nt Belisles, because I don't own any.

I caught a beaver by the tail one time. It went swimming by me in a small creek like I wasn't even there. I reached down and grabbed the tail and dispatched it as fast as I could. I even had a witness. Put a couple beers in him and that story is bound to come up.

Caught one by the tail.....Cuz the tip was in the trap....and the cable tie off ,was twisted like a rubber band on a balsa wood airplane. And I caught him the next day.
