Dad was in the big red one in Saigon in '66-'67. he was teaching me bushcraft learned in country at a young age. I joined the green machine in 89 and many of my cadre were nam vets, they shared SO MANY things they learned the hard way over there. many of which hold true no matter where you may be. awarness. always. The nam vets i grew up around were my hero's. i have had the chance to tell some of them, but many went on before i ever had the chance. dont wait. if someone had a positive influence on you growing up, tell them. Gods peace my brothers & sisters. 🇺🇸 86 for me and I learned early on the only ones worth listening to were the old soldiers who had seen the elephant. They may not have been the most squared away in spit and polish but they were where it really mattered.

My uncle and a former lineman teacher of mine, are the 2 nam vets that helped me more than they'll ever possibly know. Uncle Billy passed on years back. But I had the chance to tell him thank you before he left. My other teacher is still around and still raising cane... lol
Thanks to all the vets !!

My Grandpa was is a Vietnam Vet, he was a helicopter mechanic/fort guard in the 1st infantry Calvary. I am pretty sure that he was in the same division showed above,(the coat of arms looks like his). He was in there for about a year before he was shipped out.

There is more that he told me but I don't remember all of it.

I did serve over there the whole year of 1967. My brother was there in Jamuary of 1969 and got hit twice and sent to Japan then home.
My brother-in-law (who recently passed) spent 18 months as cannon cocker. He told me of once going out to an LZ in a Chinook and coming in for a landing.
All of a sudden the chopper drops about 50 ft. to the ground. He was knocked out. Waking up to being outside on the ground and looking at the Chinook with no front prop.
His question was, how did I get out here? Apparently an RPG was used to down the chopper. He was one of the few who survived that day.
I have pictures on a DVD showing the wreckage. Nasty.
