Might be a older subject but am looking into getting one in the future. Y’all that have them, how do you like them. Trying to spend my Biden bucks wisely.

That was my first muzzleloader. Absolute tack driver at 25 yards. Took a lot of squirrels with head shots with that little rifle.
The little 310 ball does not buck the wind well at all though. 50 yards on a breezy day I could not hold a group.
I sold it years ago to finance my first flintlock. Some days I wish I still had it.
I did upgrade to the aluminum ramrod for hunting. The dowel they include as a ramrod should be tossed the minute you take the gun from the box, unless they have changed their wood supply.

I will upgrade the ramrod, had to do it with the .45 kit thing didn’t last 3 shooting. Looks like I will buy one, any particular powder. I have plenty triple 7 FFFG.

I started with pyrodex rifle powder, then switched to 3F goex. I got better groups with the goex. I was running 310 ball, can't remember the patch thickness and 28 grains powder.

Thanks a lot k snow. Your post really have been pushing me to go the flint lock route, just haven’t mustered up to it yet.

Go for it, jump in with both feet. They are an absolute blast.

Caplocks don't look this good:

Bought one with my first fur check when I was younger. Absolutely loved it, though I shot it very little. Always regretted getting a percussion instead of a flintlock. I wanted "easy" at the time. If I wanted easy, I should have just used my 10/22. For fun, and for what it is, I highly recommend the flintlock. Mine was an absolute tack driver, and an amazing little gun.

Now that I remember, I sold that gun to someone on the Trap Shed, with a powder horn and shooting bag. Would have been 2008/9ish?

I bought my Dad a 32 caliber years ago. He used it on varmits and a few turkeys. When he died in January I got it. Shot it for the first time last weekend. At 20 yards 4 shots could be covered with a quarter. Had a couple of old cans of beer that I found along the road. Shook them up and let my grandsons use them for targets with the 32. They had a blast.
