More than likely that outlet is shorted. I'd change it. As it would be a fire hazard.

Ya, get that fixed. You got a loose wire or a loose connection in there somewhere. Don't know how old your house is but there was a time that residential electricians liked to use the stab lock connection instead of the terminal screws on the device to land the romex wire. It was a speed thing, quick to install like that. They've pretty much got away from that anymore. That use to be a lot of residential service calls, fixing stab locks. Receptacles feed in out from one to another so if you have one bad, the others downstream from it will be bad also. If you do it yourself, be sure the circuit is dead before you play with it. Pay attention to what terminals the white and black wire came from. White wire go to silver colored screws and black wire go to brass colored screws.

The first thing that you should do is make sure that the insurance is paid up.

Looks like he needs another year;-)

If an appliance or something is turned on when you plug it in a spark will come out of the outlet. If the plug shorted out and didn't throw the breaker or blow a fuse then you have bigger problems.

Saw this in a mobile home at deer camp. Tightened the connections and it was fixed. May have been aluminum wiring.

Make sure your smoke detectors are updated with good batteries and your homeowner's insurance is paid up. Replacing outlets is easy and cheap but bad wiring not so much.

If you know what breaker runs the bad outlets turn it off even if your not going to swap the outlets out.

If you ever take advise, take it now. Don't screw around with bad house wiring/fixtures!

If you can't replace them yourself, have someone do it for you but get'r done asap.

This isn't something to put off fixing. In fact, I really surprised you even had to ask about it. Just be careful if you try to do the work yourself.

I didn't get the jist of what you said, think you plugged your tv plug into a receptacle and a big spark came out. If several plugs and switches have no power then you likely tripped the breaker. Have a whole dead circuit Go to your breaker panel and see if one of the breaker handles is in a different position, you will have to reset the breaker before turning it on , just switch it several times. Also the plug that you used to test with when it arked in the receptacle .could be defective, bad cord. Try to liven circuit back up, get a lamp or something that you know , is working , use it to test the plugs. Likely something simple, now you got to find it. Spent my whole working life trouble shooting hydro.old243

Doesn’t matter what it costs...get 3 bids and get it fixed. You obviously are not an electrician. Dead is dead.
