New York becomes the 15th state to legalize recreational marijuana. Personally I have nothing against it. Alcohol is much worse on society. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/n...eational-marijuana/ar-BB1f8wrb?ocid=iehp

I love it. 40% goes to a "social equity fund." What in heaven's green earth is that? And 40% will go to schools. Ya, because after all . . . its all about the kids. We did the same thing here in my state (allowed anyone to use weed on the pretense the taxes would go to schools) and our schools have never been in worse shape financially. But go ahead, New York, light it up.

I would really be concerned, if someone is pulled over and also is armed, concealed or not, with pot on them . I will never be into that stuff, but I have seen several western states express much concern over individual state/county laws that can be a potential real problem in gelling with carrying pot for "fun " before the laws are able to catch up with the changes.

Nothing is worth jeopardizing a person's rights to retain their firearm in transport , to me.

Sharon, Montana is legal. If weed is legal, why would it matter if a person is armed or not? I would think it would be the same as having a pack of cigarettes or unopened alcohol in possession. I don't need it myself,,,, I don't have enough ambition as it is.

Gary, The difference is that the others you mentioned are already legal....cigs and alcohol. The laws in every state and county are clear for years now.

Some places don't have the catch up to new ordinances and CAN cause a snag if one is pulled over driving.

Every county can have their own differences in how they do things. I'm not just referring to my state but all over. Several other western states have been concerned , also.

I would like to think that legal firearm carriers already take care to protect themselves in transit on the road , anyway. Their freedom is cherished and they want to take no chance.

All we need in New York State is more rope smokin' hippies
laying around on the public dole with the munchies but too
stressed out from the COVID to get a job.

They can't afford to go to work but they'll somehow have
enough cash on hand to buy weed.

I wonder if they'll be able to use their NYS issued EBT debit cards
to purchase their state approved marijuana stash.

Cuomo's got the right idea.......Keep em' drunk or stoned, fat, and stupid
until the next election and hopefully New York State residents will forget
that their Governor is a COVID mass murderer of 15,000 elderly citizens
and a serial groper/pervert/sexual harasser to boot.

Hey Andy, PASS THE BONG !!! mad

SD did that on the lottery to get it going but the schools don’t see much of the money like they said they would the same will happen with pot most likely also when they get that going.

The funny thing here is the people can vote for a amendment and Pierre will go in and change what you voted for to make it what they want it to be and not what the people wanted to happen.

Just read an article about Colorado. Two years after legalizing recreational pot the number of auto accidents went up 16%. Guess what? Auto rates across the board have gone up 10%. Somebody has to pay for act/reaction.

It is interesting that federally, weed is still illegal yet the States are passing their own laws. I guess States can do the same with Federal gun laws.

Yep, it's called states rights. Constitutionally the federal government has a very limited scope to what powers they have and currently are operating well outside that scope. I agree with Sharon, I can see it the use of mj negativity affecting one's gun rights.

Gary, wait till this NEW fad gains some active history....again, cell phones have been around for a while, so yes more accidents are already in the books....though I hope it doesn't begin its own added accident rating as time lets it be seen....

All the schools teach kids that tobacco is a drug but weed is okay? Today's marijuana has a much higher THC content and is more cancer causing than tobacco. I don't care if they legalize it or not just understand it's not for the people it's for the government to get more tax money. It doesn't appear that it's worked well for the states that have made it legal.

I'd to start a new Friday night Tman thread "What Are You Smoking?"

Legalization is a good thing--more freedom.

40% of the imagined tax revenue going to schools. ROFLMAO anybody in NY wanna bet that your school tax bill will go down ? Not.
Now everyone under the age of 21 will stop smoking pot, just like they stopped drinking alcoholic beverages.LOL

New fad?

Colorado legalized it almost ten years ago. They should have enough data to form a conclusion.

Me? I'm not worried about it affecting my ability to carry, I'm not having anything to do with it. I'm high on life.

Can they test to see if you're too stoned to drive? What's the limit? How do they test you? How stoned can you be and still carry legally?

Legalize everything, take away all government safety nets, now we're talking.

I have bought quite a bit of fur from CO LEO'S, and not one of them had anything positive to say about what legalizing weed has done to the state.

But, it's no worse than booze.

How do you handle it?

Got any good ideas?
