Anyone still use them?

I am putting in a larger garden this year and decided to get myself one. Can't find one anywhere. RK and northern tool say they can have me one in 2-3 weeks. I need one sooner.

Anyone know where I might look for one? I am looking at the Earthway Kentucky high wheel #6500. Seems the best deal for the money.

Sooner than 2-3 weeks? It was one degree here this morning for the low. Don't you have winter there?
It looks like northern tool and rural king have them.

It hasn't been below freezing for a few weeks here. We do have freeze warning for tonight and tomorrow night. Then back to the 6o's and 70's.

just hoping someone might know where I can get one sooner.

I have two hoss tools copies of the planet jr. A single and a double wheel plus a seeder. If you go this route the original implements fit and are better being cast steel.

Hoss garden tools makes some heavy duty stuff.
What’s wrong with a tiller and attachments like Maxis made in Mississippi
I have the tiller works great for tilling, laying rows off, several attachments

I've got 3 tillers....lol None of them are worth a hoot for laying off rows or raising rows. 2 are rear tine, the other front tine.

I looked at the Hoss tools stuff. Looks like good equipment. I will contact them tomorrow and see what comes of it.

Warrior does hoss make the planet Jr.? Or are they made by someone else?

Planet Jr is long gone but they were made in the thousands and are easily found but like old traps some folks think rust means rare antique and hang stupid prices on them.

The only real difference is hoss uses stamped steel where the planet jr was mostly cast. In use that has only really mattered on the left/right furrower which I never could get to stay lined up right when using them to furrow. Solved that with originals with cast arms. Also hoss does not make a true plow with landside or middle buster but planet jr did and I have both.

For weeding the knives are really nice if you hit it when the weeds are tiny, just shave them off. If the weeds are bigger or grass use the duck feet cultivators.

You will want the pistol grip handle as the plow handle will raise blisters from the back and forth push pull.

Also when its time the replace the handles go to farmer browns plow website and get two cross arms and crossbolt to beef them up.

The seeder is nice for large seeds from about okra up. It'll do some small, brassica mostly, but has a tendency to grind seed under the plates and to clog the brushes. Forget carrots, lettuce or parsnips. You'll need to drill your own plates for the large seeded butterbeans.

From my reading the best small seed seeder is the jung but it also carries a hefty price tag. As much as I hate the lightweight earthway I must say its the better one for small seed. If only it were built heavier and larger like a real full size tool.

Warrior, if you had to choose, would you go with the single or the double wheel? Does the double do a good job of straddling small stuff like carrots and beets?

I just found a site where you can buy all the metal parts and hardware to build the planet jr. 129.00 I think. It doesn't have the plow or hoe attachments though. They are for sale separately, at least the hoe is, not sure about the plow parts.

After buying the parts kit, then the attachments I would want, then the handles, the Hoss would be a better deal.

From what I watched on you tube today, since my garden is on hillside I am going with the two wheel I think. Supposed to be easier to use on hill sides. If I decide to go that route at all anyway.
