If armadillos took over East St Louis it would be an improvement. I was shocked at the craphole ghetto it is there.
Life ain't supposed to be easy.

We have roadrunner here in the Ouachitas. Y'all got them in the Ozarks?
A few here roadrunner here is SW Missouri. Not overly common though. Saw my first armadillo in the late 70s along a railroad track while rabbit hunting. I've been told it's a migration thing from Central America and at the time of the Alamo armadillos were just then coming into central Texas.

Possum on the half shell. It's what's for dinner.

I can remember dad calling them "Hoover Hogs" when I was a kid. Meaning in the time of the depression people ate them. I don't know if that is true or just a saying. I do know that armadillos are suspected of carrying leprosy so I will not be eating any. Like J Staton I have heard them referred to as possum on the half shell

I think this winter did a number on them here. Haven't seen one since the -15 cold spell and we have/had tons of them. Not even a road kill. It got down to -23 here and we still got em. Dogs (paterdales) have found several along with many we have shot out of the hay fields this spring. I was hoping the cold had killed them, but it didn't seem to make any difference. Seen my first one here in 1999 and everyone laughed at me saying I had drank to much. About a week later I seen one (maybe the same one, but a half mile away), I caught that one live and took it to the local COOP. I tossed it on the floor and asked just how drunk are you fellas as it scurried around. Now 20 years later we got the dang things everywhere. As for eating the things, I have heard they could be and are eaten by some folks. I would have to be awfully hungry to get past the stink of the things.
