Have any of you found a syringe where the plunger doesn’t degrade after contact with skunk essence?

I use the standard ones I buy them by the box the same with needles to get a price break on them. I buy the 30ml ones for jumbo skunks to avoid a 2nd poke. I use them then pump the plunger a few times then pull it back 3/4 of the way then store it needle down in a jar that way I get a few uses out them. If I leave it pushed all the way in it melts he black plunger and sticks.

Syringes are cheaper then spilling essence all over sometimes you will lose more essence then it’s worth trying to use a sticky syringe yet I do it trying to save $.90. LOL

If you give the plunger a light coat of Vaseline it will extend the life but not much. I always rinsed them in water when I was done also. I drew essence in the field and did it at a slough or mud puddle to have water to rinse the syringe. It all helped, but they still end up getting gummy.

When I get done using one I rinse with water and put in plastic bag in my freezer. It seems to give it more longevity. I buy my syringes at tractor supply

These last a long time. I pull and flush water through it once after each use. Change the o ring maybe once a year. Can be found at most farm supply stores. Also comes in a 20 cc.

I use the 20cc version of the syringe that Monster Toms has posted. I rinse some water through it after every use and that really seems to help it last longer. I did 18 skunks with it this year and it held up well. In the past I would have went through several of those cheap syringes with the black rubber plunger. Only problem is every once in a awhile you'll get a big skunk that has more than 20cc in one pod and you want to get all the stink in one pull. I'll be looking for a larger syringe of this style when my current one gives it up.

If you freeze all your skunks and then thaw and do them all at once, you can do several dozen with the disposable ones no problem. I find the cheap ones will last about a week before they degrade to the point it’s time for a new one.

In cooler weather just stack them up for a week no rush they last a long time before they even start to brake down better to stink once a week then every day your wives will thank you.
