Great pic. Thanks, I'm pretty proud of that skinner. I stole the idea from adc's posts on here. Took the idea to a welder friend and had it built. I wanted it on the front my welder talked me into putting on the back. I hated it there, was in the way all the time. Back to the drawing board, lol. The answer was super simple, take a heavy piece of steel and weld it to the front tow hook. Bingo, done deal. Works great, you can see how simple it is from the pics.

My hat is off to you for catching that amount of coyotes on flat sets only. Good job

I do sometimes think about = Welding quick links. I have large = 5/16s quick lengths for a reason. I pull them with my truck. BUT i have had them stolen by trap theives. So should I weld them up?? Can you weld on a quick length?

Yes, but i wouldn't buy a quick link to weld it. I would buy a heavy duty s hook and weld both sides really good . Let me think on your question a little.

No problem. Its your thread. LoL! To be honest. I havent had that many fastening trap problems. Afew have been stolen over the years. Having 62 mile wind has lost me a trap or 2. BUT acording to the ranch hand that found them. He step on them and they didnt fire. Dug up with shovel after found with metal detector. What I really would like? Better GPS and marking system. GPS sounds great BUT accurate to 3 meters? Thats 9 ft each side of a trap. Thats 18 ft total. Thats how I lost a trap or 2. Just covered in 2 ft of shifting sand. From 60 mph wind.

Flat sets disappear so darn easy. Yes then throw in some wind. All you can do is try gps plus a little map and note like 10 feet across from a certain bush or post or tree. Just gotta make sure there's something in em to make sure u don't lose em. Lol

Flagging gets eaten by cows. So i have started with. 32 inch bamboo skewer sticks = with a red tip painted on them. So far so good.

I've not seen a single person argue against modifying traps. I'm sure 99% of serious coyote trappers do. But that really has nothing to do with BMPs.

Agree with serious coyote trappers modify their traps. That is 100% of what bmps are!!!! If your changing a trap to help hold it long enough to be there on your return than you are implementing bmps whether you know it or not. Imo that is the way it should be, self implemented not forced.

Not sure if i agree with the 99% but we can go with it. What about the 1% that dosen't know about traps or mods then sets on public ground and has a wreck. People see it, takes lots of pics. Next thing you know guess who gets ahold of it. Sound about right?

What about coon trappers? You going 99% on them too?

When they did these BMP studies they didn't test any drowning set ups because they deemed them Inhumane. So are we going to stop using drowning systems and do away with colony traps just because of the BMPs?

These BMPs In my opinion will eventually bite us In the butt.

Stuff like this is what I am getting at. Sure, some of the BMPs are common sense things that most serious trappers do anyways..... but some of the BMPs are pure trash.

Am I going to modify my BMP-outlawed 1.5 coil springs for coon? Nope. Because they're going to be attached to also BMP-outlawed drowning cables.

And saying that whatever percentage of people that don't modify traps are going to suddenly start doing it if BMPs are enforced is about like saying drug dealers won't have guns if we outlaw guns.... just stupid.

This is where you are talking about heading us. Trap certification

This is a slippery slope of no return. New Jersey has already outlawed ALL foot hold traps. Not only their use but even to retain them in a collection. Ask Newt how that worked out for him. Before you go to war with an enemy you best learn about them. They will not be pacified to limit us to a few traps as they want the practice eliminated.

Like I said before even though padded jaw traps were tested and deemed not as humane as the steel laminated traps they are pushing them in this study. Building the case to outlaw it all.

Still, if you will not fight for the right when you can easily win without bloodshed; if you will not fight when your victory will be sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than live as slaves. Winston Churchill

This, and the recent study published in WI Trapper done by vets and our former wildlife biologist did a beaver trap study comparing two live traps and MB 750 for damage. Any guess as to which ones were best? I think there is an ulterior motive to some of these studies.

I don't see an ulterior motive.I would imagine if you compared the two the live traps would have less damage than a MB750
