I got my yearly report letter from soacil security,, around $1089 month if retire soon at 62, u can earn up to 18k an still get the soacil security without deductions, is that figgure pre tax or after tax ? I don't know, either way not much, should be much more, u got wait till 67 to get $1557 month

If you wait your giving away money it will take around 18 years to get that first extra dollar you waited for collect ASAP

Dave,they will take about 10% of that $1089.00 for medicare medical insurance. Then you can still expect to pay taxes on the amount you get.

At 65 Medicare kicks in for insurance coverage if you have/want health coverage you might need to work until 65, if you don’t have insurance now nothing would change for you then . That estimate on monthly payments sounds low I thought $1,200 would be more like it.

My social security payment was based on the last 5 years of my salary. Medicare deduction is around 150 per month. Disability is based the same way for those who get that.

I think SS benefits are determined from your 10 best years of income (adjusted for inflation) irregardless of when they happened over your career.

So at 65 they withhold 10 per cent plus approx another 15 per cent state an fed tax out that amount , so if retire at 62, about $939 a month an $839 at 65? Not much, u have work pt until gone which can't at that little money , still though I'm little over a year, very likely soacil security an part time an hopefully be Able work pt for long time, o have had it with crappy jobs an pay other employees , if can work pt, it might be ok for few years or more aslong u can work , soacil security not squat

If u take early SS at 62 the amt will drop ~$150 when u have to take medicare at 65.
